A source of purity since 1925

The village of Zhaksykylysh is located in the Aral District of the Kyzylorda Region and is known as one of Kazakhstan’s main salt mining centers. Its history is closely linked to the development of the unique Aral salt lakes, which began to be worked back in the early 20th century. It is here that the history of today’s enterprise, JSC «Araltuz», begins.

The first development of the Aral salt lakes, which laid the foundation for the Aral salt production complex, began in 1913. In 1925, an artel for salt mining was established on the basis of the Zhaksykylysh salt lakes, becoming the basis of today’s enterprise.

Until 1963, the settlement was called Aralsulfat, because not only salt but also sodium sulfate was mined on its territory. The plant was privatized after the collapse of the USSR; in 1994 JSC «Araltuz» was formed.
